چکیده

Agromyzidae (Insecta: Diptera) is a cosmopolitan family of acalyptrate flies, with almost 3,000 species worldwide distributed. Most are leaf miners on large number plants. Among them, Liriomyza Mik, 1894 genus leaf-miner that can cause significant damage to economically important crops and considered agricultural pests, such as sativae Blanchard, 1938 huidobrensis (Blanchard, 1926), which herein investigated. The present study deals the impact climatic factors (temperature, humidity, precipitation), seasonality, parasitoid abundance infestation during one year in five cultivated Northeastern Brazil. Climatic for instance had different effects L. populations melon watermelon crops. Larval abundances were greater dry season both species, huidobrensis, adult parasitoids followed increase mining larvae.

Description and biology of two new species of Neotropical Liriomyza Mik (Diptera, Agromyzidae), mining leaves of Bocconia (Papaveraceae)

Liriomyza mystica Boucher & Nishida, sp. n., and Liriomyza prompta Boucher & Nishida, sp. n. are described from Costa Rica. Both species were reared from leaves of Bocconia frutescens L. (Papaveraceae). The latter species was also reared from B. arborea S. Watson. Larvae of L. mystica mine primary veins of large, relatively old, mature leaves, and L. prompta mine blades of small to large, matur...

Effects of foliar surfactants on host plant selection behavior of Liriomyza huidobrensis (Diptera: Agromyzidae).

The pea leafminer, Liriomyza huidobrensis (Diptera: Agromyzidae), is a highly polyphagous insect pest of global distribution. L. huidobrensis feeds and lays its eggs on leaf tissue and reduces crop marketability because of stippling and mining damage. In field insecticide trials, it was observed that stippling was reduced on plants treated with surfactant alone. The objectives of this study wer...

Kairomone attractant for the leafmining fly, Liriomyza bryoniae (Diptera, Agromyzidae).

A field test carried out in an industrial greenhouse in Lithuania revealed the attractiveness of synthetic methyl salicylate (MeSa) towards an economically important leafmining tomato pest, Liriomyza bryoniae (Kaltenbach) (Diptera, Agromyzidae). The behavioural reaction of the flies depended very much on the simultaneous presence of both olfactory and visual stimuli. The attractiveness depended...

Mitochondrial Phylogeography of the Vegetable Pest Liriomyza trifolii (Diptera: Agromyzidae): Diverged Clades and Invasive Populations

The leafmining ßyLiriomyza trifolii (Burgess) (Diptera: Agromyzidae) is an important pest of vegetable and cut-ßower crops. In recent decades, this species has become invasive, spreading from the Americas to the rest of the world. Despite substantial losses caused by Liriomyza leafminers, the systematics of these ßies has remained poorly understood because of their small size and morphological ...

Feeding, oviposition and survival of Liriomyza trifolii (Diptera: Agromyzidae) on Bt and non-Bt cottons.

The effects of Bt transgenic cottons (Bt-I expressing cry1Ac and Bt-II expressing cry1Ab and cry2Ab or cry1Ab and cry1Fa) and non-Bt cottons on feeding, oviposition and longevity of adults, and development and survival of Liriomyza trifolii larvae were studied under laboratory conditions; and infestation on four Bt and two non-Bt cotton traits were investigated under field conditions. Laborator...
